Located just a few hours south of Atlanta and Picture Keeper headquarters, and known to many in the south as a must visit city in the United States, Savannah is a top travel destination. As Picture Keeper is gearing up for the Southern Women’s Show on March 24-26, we can’t help but get excited over all the beautiful scenic areas of Savannah. Here are some of our favorite, must-see places in Savannah:

1. Wormsloe Historic Site

This beautiful site of trails and ruins of the colonial estate of carpenter Noble Jones dates back to the mid-1700’s. As the Welcome to Savannah site states, “…you’ll barely get through the gates before you stop and take a picture.” Visitors also have the opportunity to take in the stunning views of the Isle of Hope.

2. Bonaventure Cemetery

Bonaventure’s 100+ acre cemetery is considered to be one of the most stunning cemeteries in the world. Among those who have their final resting place here, included are 500 Confederate soldiers, and the nation’s second largest area dedicated to those who died during the Spanish-American War. The marble statues set below the great trees will make this a top photo destination in Savannah.

3. The Forsyth Park- Forsyth Fountain

The largest park in Savannah set right in the historic district of downtown, this park is one of the most popular places for social hangouts. It also houses the Saturday farmers market. But a picture perfect feature of the park is the Forsyth Fountain, located on the north side of the park. Every year for St. Patrick’s Day, the city dyes the fountain green, and is one of the most popular events for the city all year! Learn more and plan your visit.

4. River Street

Abandoned in the early 1800’s after a yellow fever epidemic, this once popular site for King Cotton wasn’t rediscovered until the 1970’s when the street was revitalized. Today, River Street is home to popular restaurants and shops. A favorite restaurant here at Picture Keeper is Spanky’s, and may we recommend the chicken fingers? Don’t forget to capture your picture-perfect moment with Savannah’s Waving Girl statue and the Olympic Cauldron, located between River Street and the Savannah River.

5. Skidaway Island State Park

If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of downtown Savannah, Skidaway Island State Park may just be the place for you! While exploring the many trails, be on the look out for wildlife like egrets and fiddler crabs. Camping is also a popular activity within the state park with both RV sites and cabin options. And Tybee Island is less than an hour away to cool off as the temperatures warm up!
